Hi,
Can any one please date this button. Is it after independence as there is no crown or not. Any help appreciated.

I am not sure that the reason you mention for it being "after independence" holds.

The state of Jammu & Kashmir was a Princely State until 1952. When a crown was in use for such items or badges, it would have been one of the state. But that is not for sure that one was used.

Thanks for the information. I assumed it had a British monarchs crown on its police badges as it was part of the British Raj and even had British civil servants as its Prime Minister, i.e Wakefield etc.

Thanks again

John

Of course the British Raj kept the Princely states under control. But officially they were independent states with their own regalia.
