Default odd SAS badge

Hello all,

Came across this badge and I was wondering if some of you could lend your opinions on the age. After checking my references from the forum the closest thing it could be a New Zealand-made badge but it has the bottom red line on the cross guard so that may not be it.

Does anyone have anything to say?

The more I look at it the more I think it is probably a bad one.

I recall there being told about a place in Auckland, New Zealand that made cloth badges.

They are gone now but once occupied a small shop in the central city and had a few boards of slowly fading cloth patches, etc. in their window.

Many collectors tried unsuccessfully to negotiate with the eccentric owner to acquire examples from his stock.

Possibly one of theirs? I may even be able to recall their name given time.

Thanks for the info on that, very interesting! Any idea what time period that would place this one in?

Hi

I'm only guessing that this could be one of theirs and I saw the possible NZ link.

I was able to ascertain that the place was called Monograms (NZ) Ltd and was at once stage run by a Mr Dunn. He curiously carried on business in between some adult book stores and down market cafes....

I'm pretty sure that they've gone out of business but I would think that they were active in the 1970's and very early 80's. Those ever fading display boards still amaze me!

Hi

OK, a bit of digging for you:

Company set up on 12 Sept 1956, looks to have been deregistered around 2015.

Hope this helps!
