From the London Gazette , September 15, 1908:

2nd Wessex Field Ambulance; Lieutenant Alfred Bertram Soltau. M.D., from the Devon Bearer Company, Royal Army Medical Corps (Volunteers), to be Lieutenant. Dated 1st April, 1908.

Found an article about The Herefordshire Regiment and although it is about 1914 I wonder if there could be some connection ?

There were also other Territorial Force units in the County – detachments as part of the Welsh Border Brigade (WBB) of the ASC and RAMC at Hereford

The article has a photo of a metal shoulder title , 'T' over 'RAMC' over a curved ' Herefordshire' with the description "The shoulder title of the Welsh Border Brigade(Stretcher) Bearer Company RAMC".

Also just found photo on Herefordshire History site titled :

Dear Mike,
Many thanks for the message and the two links. This is the first time I have heard what WBB meant. I knew that the collar badge was rare in 1981 but I was glad to let Hugh King have it to thank him showing me his incredible collection.
