I think, as a sweetheart brooch, that is only the second that I have ever seen, but, I suspect it has survived because it was converted and actually worn by some dear sweet girl a long time ago.

My sweetheart between two converted cap badges. I think you mentioned yours had enamel to the letters? No trace of any enamel on mine. A few more collars for good measure, gilt, bronzed (two different patterns) & blackened.
