I just acquired this helmet out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada to the Royal Canadian Dragoons. It is a troopers or other ranks 1871 pattern helmet in near mint condition with its original black horsehair plume. The Royal Canadian Dragoons adopted the 1871 pattern white metal dragoon helmet circa 1908. Prior to 1908 they wore a white spiked foreign service helmet with a brass/gilt star plate similar to the one worn on the 1871 pattern helmet. The Royal Canadian Dragoons helmet, center, is displayed with two other Canadian helmets in my collection; on the left a helmet to Princess Louise's Dragoon Guards and right Lord Strathcona's Horse (The Royal Canadians).
Thank you for looking and comments appreciated! Regards to all, David |

Do you have already enough of these wonderful helmets to provide for a full squadron?
