Scottish Rifles - project
With many thanks to the forum members who helped with the research - I thought I'd share the finished frame for my Godson's 18th Birthday of his Great Grandfathers medals and insignia. Sadly only one medal ( Victory ) is original to John Bulloch - but I got replacements for the Star and War Medal to the same Regiment. The certificate is also a replacement - but look suitably impressive. I've also put together a 2 page summary of his war service which I've attached to the back of the frame and hopefully his story has been preserved for generations to come. Hope he likes it!

Another photo of the man has emerged from the family - ( the badge looks more like the Scottish Rifles ) but what are the badges on his sleeve ?

Service chevron with two wound stripes and - I'm not at all sure - grenade over crossed rifles or just grenade?

Can I ask, why do you think it is not Scottish Rifles? I have a book on the history of The Scottish Rifles and the illustrations in the book are similar to your picture. Phil. |

I did wonder if it were a dark circle representing brigade or battalion, with a rectangle of company colour below but I think all the Scottish Rifles battalions wore various shapes of Douglas tartan. Keith |

I may be imagining crossed rifles below the grenade, thinking of the rifle grenadier's grenade over crossed rifles badge which was worn lower left arm. |
