Chris, I am no expert on badges, and usually struggle with them even in areas I collect. Three things jump out at me on this one.

1 - the dot below the "R: on the left looks to have a small blob next to it
2 - the slider appears to have a rim from being cut when looking from the front. I've never seen that on a badge before.
3 - the edge of the left arm of the cross looks to be misaligned.

I've had a look at mine and id don't see 2 and 3, and mine has lugs so can't compare the slider.

Again, not the expert, but even with the fine detail, I probably would have passed on it.

My two cents,

Terry

Sad thing is of the four badges I posted in this section this is the one I liked the best.
Never mind,

Chris, Don't toss it yet, let's see what more knowledgeable minds have to say. If you like HG, it is a nice one to have, and also he Phase 2 badge, also with lots of fakes out there.

No worries terry.
Picked up a few badges, some good, some rubbish and these i wanted a second opinion on.
Got a nice American squadron home guard with the gaunt stamp so although not my collecting area i like it and will hold on to it

Chris,
You might wish to read this thread:-
https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...nor+home+guard
From the look of it might be the case that it should be on lugs.
Hwyl,
Kevin

I would say 100% fake as it has the dreaded honeycombe background to the writing that so many of the copies have and I have never seen a genuine badge with this. Sorry to disappoint. Denis

Thanks Dennis.
When I post badges in this section it’s normally because I am pretty sure they are duff, so it’s too be expected they will be confirmed as duff.
But of course it’s nice to be proved wrong once in a while.
Thanks for looking, always need other members to help.
Thanks
Chris

Thanks Luke for giving them all the once over.
Can’t say I am surprised, but it’s nice to double check.

Chris
