Another one i am unsure of, i do like it, but having a hard time spotting the fakes.
Lugs have traces if gold braze.
if this is a fake could some one give me some points to look out for between fakes and genuine examples
Thanks
Chris

I like the lugs and gold braze so in my opinion it is good. Denis

Hi Dennis.
Hope your right.
I really struggle with most Scottish badges.
Thanks for taking the time to have a look

The Marsh fakes are a very flat badge with a stepped dome. The originals are a much deeper badge with a more domed centre. The fake dies are quite a close match so its often hard to differentiate from pictures but they do not match.

Hi Alan.
Thanks for the info, I searched on the forum and was still not sure.
Feel a little more positive now in my search.

This one is much more domed than the flat fakes.

Alan is quite correct. In addition the marsh fakes have very squished up NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT which almost looks like one word. The oval openings at both ends of the bugle are also very irregularly shaped.

Default 4/5 Royal Scots

Looking at it again in greater detail and comparing with 2 in my collection I agree not genuine now though I am surprised that Marsh has generous amounts of gold brazing fluid on his fakes as I have always thought that was a very good sign? I have also noticed that my ones have no dot at bottom of circle between the N and the T where as Chris's has, a point of have noticed before on these badges - can both versions be correct? Denis
