Default In Need of Info on Victorian Household Cavalry? Horse Brass

I am British and ex-RE but now live in the US. where I recently bought this clearly-military Victorian horse-brass insignia still riveted to its original leather backing.

I was given to understand that it is Household Cavalry horse furniture, and wondered if anyone can confirm that or, if it isn't, what unit it may have belonged to? I know it must date between 1837 and 1901, but can anyone give me a tighter window..?

Badge is 3 3/4" high by 2" wide and is executed in high relief, the central escutcheon being about 1/2" thick.

Because the badge is riveted, I can't access the back for maker's name etc.

Thank you in advance.
