Default Badge Opinions Please

Greetings All

Recently I purchased an older collection of 300 badges and before I move them on I would like to get some opinions please. Placing them here on the forum seems to be the prudent thing to do, any bad ones will go in the circular file.

A sincere thanks for your help.

Larry

I like the Lion- pattern often seen as an earlier lugged/looped badge. Regards, Paul.

The Dorsetshires is not one that I would buy. I have seen these with blank plates soldered over the Marabout scroll but in my opinion the badge construction is not right for a 1908-16 cap badge. The die is a later WW2 era one.

Thanks gents, 1/1 thus far. Perhaps if I just keep adding to this thread it may prove to be a decent archive for good vs evil. So, with that in mind, here are two more.

Best to all

Both good, but the OSD collar has had its loops removed and converted to a ladies brooch.

regards

Thank you Simon...I suppose there is a certain charm to the conversion of the OSD, original is always best of course.

Best

I am not convinced by the blank scroll Lincolns.

I agree, the font of the letters upon the scroll does nothing to convince me.

The Lincs is a dud. The KOSB is not one I would buy as it's been improperly pierced and the rear detail is poor suggesting a worn die typical of restrikes.

The Essex TF is suspect as well as the plinth edges have a high border seen on copies and the construction and style of slider suggest a modern badge to me. Finally i am afraid that the Jury's out on the London Regt badge as the reverse looks modern and slider is suspect in shape.

That's only my opinion but I would replace them all if they were in my collection.
