Does anybody know where to get a copy of A Collectors Guide To Infantry Glengarry Badges Part 2 1881 - 2006 by G.F.McWilliam. I have tried the link address supplied in the section "Books by Forum Members", I have tried Googling the printer etc etc, but I am still unable to get a copy. Can anyone help? Thanks Andy |

Hi,
Thanks for the very fast response. That is the web link that unfortunately doesn't work. I have even tried contacting the publishers direct, but no joy there either. Thanks though. Cheers, Andy |

Hi Andy
Unfortunately this publication is no longer available. The publisher, ie Bryan Martin of DP&G Publishing sadly died last year and his one man firm was wound-up. Where all his assets and properties have gone no one seems to know. I certainly have heard nothing yet. So whether or not his business will be resumed by his creditors or anyone else I have no idea. Since I was not allowed to keep or distribute any copies myself, I fear any stocks will by now be disposed of. A great pity because we both put a lot of hard work into producing these volumes. All the very best Jeff Last edited by Jeff Mc William; 28-08-19 at 08:06 AM. |

Hi Jeff,
Thank you very much for the response. It is sad to hear about the publishers and all your hard work and effort no longer being available. Ironically, through my internet search for them, I noticed Ryedale Auctioneers were selling off lots of their stock in April 2019. Perhaps, copies of your book may surface soon. Meanwhile, on the off chance anyone wants to sell their copy, please let me know. Thanks again everyone. Andy |

DP&G Publications
Hi Andy
As far as the book is concerned, that is about all I can tell you at the moment. Bryan was a decent man, but very secretive ; (I only learnt of his death via a third party). In all the time I knew him (some 16 years), I never knew his address or telephone number (ex directory). He used to visit me at home or at some agreed meeting place, eg The Royal Armouries or a pub somewhere, which must have been a bit awkward for him because he did not have a car or drive. Alternatively, he would phone me to discuss things, then I would post any CDs or documents etc to a PO Box number in Doncaster. Very peculiar, but that's the way he liked to do business. Similarly, he did not want to distribute his books via any other dealer or outlet for fear of losing revenue. Not surprisingly this sales technique was not very successful ! Having said that tho', no one else was willing to publish my works so I was very grateful. I guess what remains now will be "collector's items". Best of luck in obtaining a copy. In the meantime if I can help with any specific enquiries, please PM me and I shall do what I can. Regards Jeff Last edited by Jeff Mc William; 28-08-19 at 10:16 AM. |

Jeff,
Was he the man who used to sell modern prints of old photos showing insignia etc ? ( If he was he had some great photos of various Lancashire Rifle Volunteers ) Peter

Yes, I believe he was. He did have an amazing collection of old photos and prints etc … I wonder where all these went ? He also re-published a full run of "Dress Regs" from 1822 to 1894 including some very rare editions. Strangely these did not sell too well although they are invaluable references. He will be missed in several areas of our hobby. Regards Jeff |

Yes Luke, these were first produced in 2003. You could buy the "set" (ie 13 editions) or individually for the years required. But by 2008 Bryan had sold only 20 copies !
To help promote this interesting and invaluable primary source I wrote a survey in the November 2008 issue of the MHS Bulletin, but apparently with little or no effect. Astonishing really as they are first line of research for Army Dress. I am not sure how many DP&G eventually produced, but again these will be much sought after volumes now. I note that in the latest MHS Bulletin Bryan Martin left £50,000 to the Society. What a very generous bequest.
