So sad indeed. He was an officer and a gentleman and such a nice man. The work that he did on Canadian militaria is immeasurable and unlikely to be surpassed. It is a great loss. My heart goes out to Richard and the Law family at this time.

Living in the far end of the country I never had the privilege of meeting Clive. My only contact was through ordering books from Service Publications. Those times of contact I had the feeling that Clive was somehow looking over my shoulder and helping to move my hobby to the next level. One has only to look at the topics of the books he wrote or published to appreciate the depth of respect he had for Canada's military heritage.
If I can feel this way about a man I never met, I can only imagine the depth of loss to the family. Rest easy Clive. Don

Clive was the force behind a new approach to military hobbies. He put collecting on a solid footing of research and insisted on integrity in all that he published. He was a friend, a mentor and encouraged many of us to put our passions in print.
Condolences to Richard and his family and friends.

Details of the funeral arrangements:
The funeral has been confirmed for Saturday June 17th at the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood in Ottawa (280 Beechwood Ave, Vanier ON K1L 8A6). Visitation will take place from 0900-1000hrs followed by the service at 1000hrs and interment of the ashes immediately following.

Can't say I knew Clive, but it's always sad to hear of the passing of someone so clearly admired and liked from within Militaria circles. RIP Clive.
