Default R.A.F. - C.W.R. numbered badge

Struggling to identify this old enamel badge - thinking C W R includes Wireless & Radio, but would appreciate some help from the forum please.... Numbered 299 on the back and made by Marples & Beasley.

Default R.A.F. - C.W.R. numbered badge

Hi,

Your badge is for a RAF Civilian Wireless Reserve member.

As far as I am aware this organisation was set up before WWII and members had to agree to be fast tracked into joining the RAF in case of hostilities.

The one on the right of my 2 examples is believed to be for a Commander/Commandant.

Same makers as yours. Left No = 117, right No = 18.

Regards,

Graham

Thanks very much to both Graham and Leigh for the information provided.
The Commandant badge must be pretty rare I would imagine.
