As far as I know the Garter and scroll should be seeded on the gold coloured version.

The original anodised aluminium badges in both colours had a seeded garter and scroll.

Chris,you could do with seeing the reverse of Bess's LBB&B gold version.As that is the most likely match for the one you've got.

Thank you for the very interesting posts. One question and excuse my ignorance. What does "seeded" mean when applied to a cap badge? I haven't come across this term before.

A description from an old post :
"Seeding is the background stippling effect, frequently on otherwise plain areas of a badge, such as the background to title scrolls." .

Chaps, apologies for my tardiness, been double busy at work!
Attached better images of the Gold LB&B example. Hope that helps. I agree with Chris that it is 'possible' that its early 70's contemporary, but I dont think this example is . . .its physically ident to the silver examples and is not seeded. Regards all Bess |
