Default Mystery Prince of Wales crest thingy.

Probably not military unless it is from an experimental pattern Shako, but I couldn't resist buying it this morning. I am not sure if it is in its original shape as it curves round in the shape of a coat hook. It may once have been straight rather than curved.

It is made of thin brass strip and has been pressed in a die. There is an attachment at the back which clearly slots into a groove of some kind. The attachment has a number stamped into it.

My guess is that it is ornamental but designed to be attached to something, possibly a carriage or something similar.

Any thoughts as to what it actually is would be welcome.

It does, but I do not think that it is strong enough to hold back a thick curtain and secondly, for it to work as a curtain holder, it would have to be fitted sideways, (horizontally). It is not robust enough to be a curtain rod holder either.

It would normally hold a woven cord that would wrap around the curtain.
