Default Latest Arrivals

Just received these pieces from one of my very favorite dealers. Very happy to have them all. Yes, I know the Black Watch badge is upside down, but corrected it for my album.

Now to get some tartan backings!

Hello Terry, some nice pieces, unfortunately the Tyneside Scottish looks to be a copy ( you may of known this already)this 2nd pattern TS should have a stout pin to the back, not sure what yours has , I’m guessing loops ? It looks to be the so called “ angry ferret “ copy ,hopefully others will confirm.

Hi Gerard,

Thanks for the input. I considered that, but the ribs are not as pronounced as that fake. Yes, mine does have lugs. So, you are saying it was never made with lugs? I bought it thinking it was ID'd as KK1137 ??? If we can determine for sure I know I can return it.

Terry

BC, Can't say, as they are public. Try looking in my album as they have all been loaded there individually.

Hello Terry, yes that’s correct, the 2nd pattern originals only issued with pin back fitting, have a look at this thread got some pictures of a good original 2nd pattern

My very sincere thanks to all for their input here. Yes, I did considerable research last night and read many of the threads about this badge.

I concede that it is indeed a fake. From reading the threads it became all too apparent. Ferret lion head to shiny brass lugs to.....

Fortunately did not pay much and in rechecking the listing, he clearly states restrike, which I missed, so the error is mine, not his. I'll get a good one some day.

Again, my sincere thanks to all for keeping on the straight and narrow.

Terry
