Spanish Parachute & Airborne badges, and one ???
Anyone on this forum know anything about Spanish parachute or airborne badges? If so, I'll try to get some pictures, as I'd like to date these things if possible for an old collector acquaintance who is sans web/computer access.
First badge is what I believe is a Spanish Parachute Rigger badge. Seems fairly old, as the only web example I can find (eBay item 200217787616) has a more refined crown. This one's crown is 5 fleur de lis. Large badge made of thick copper that's been plated or silver foiled, with enamel & brass overlay centerpiece bolted on with small nut and bolt. Size 94mm x 38 mm and weighs a ton. I wouldn't want to jump out of a plane wearing this: you'd need an extra parachute! Second badge is Spanish Army Airborne Parachute Brigade, bi-metal, w.m. (aluminum?) eagle on leaf wreath with brass parachute in centre, 5 braided cords (like eBay item 290224257295). Both above have very thin wire loops. Final badge is a two screw-post airforce(?) badge, thick brass, with a real silly looking eagle, long thin wings, almost South American looking, but over a scroll reading "PER ARDUA AD ASTRA". 65mm wide X 35 mm high. |

The best place to look for illustrations would be Bragg & Turner's books on parachute wings. I don't have them handy as I'm at work, but I know I've seen Spanish wings in there.

I am not sure if the Bragg/Turner book will help, attached is a picture of the Spanish badges.
P.B.

one out of 3 in there
I really appreciate you posting the pic.
Badge #305 Parachute Rigger is one of the three in question. Am I reading the headings correctly, is this a Spanish Civil War issue, or do the authors have another date of usage for this badge? Since all three badges came to my aged acquaintance from the same source, I will assume that the Spanish Army Airborne badge would be from the same era as the Rigger's badge. |

I have Spanish Paratrooper Wings
When i was a part of the 3/325 (82nd Airborne), i recieved my Spanish Paratrooper wings during a jump exchange while i was in Spain. Attached is a copy of my certificate if that will help you. The wings look like this except the real ones have the wings extend left and right. You can also contact me at chris4301970@gmail.comSpanish Paratrooper award certificate 001.jpg

The 'Civil War' parachutist badge, there a few variations but basically the same badge. A number of cheap looking copies were around in the 70s.
The following series first appeared in the late 1940s and have the the 'Republican Crown' [Gen. Franco regime], in 1977 the crown was replaced with the royal crown of Juan Carlos. |
