Default American Cap Badge on British Cap? Possible Eagle Squadron Cap?

I purchased this hat a week ago and cant find any similar examples. At first I thought it was some sort of cottage industry manufactured hat for American GIs, but then I remembered about the Eagle Squadron and did some research on their patches. The booth I bought this hat from had a few ES patches for sale that I didn't recognize till I started researching. But it also does not match any ES hats I have been able to find pictures of.

It also could be something completely different.

So any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for your time,
Carthin

The buttons and chin strap indicate it to be a Dutch Air Force cap - why the US style badge is on it I don't know. Members of the Eagle Squadrons wore standard RAF Officer badge and hat.

In 1942 when they transferred over to the new 8th Air Force they wore new American uniforms and insignia, leaving their RAF uniforms behind, they did get to wear their RAF wings though!
Before '42 they wore RAF cap badges, I believe! Could it be a 'marriage'?

I had never thought of the Dutch as its origin, I will have to do some research on Dutch hats with American insignia. It could vary well be a pieced together cap though, maybe someone was making a prop or something?
