I wonder why? I would have thought it was pretty obvious by the time it might have been passed for publication that they were on a beach. I'm pleased that the pre-censor version survived though. Mike

Hi,
It is the negative that the IWM photo archive hold that has been censored. The photograph albums on the shelves at the IWM photo archive have the original uncensored photos in them. Found this out after I visited the archives some years ago and ordered some photos from the albums. Received the prints only to find out that some of the insignia had been censored. No idea how many of the “B” series photos are like this. Censored and uncensored copies seem to turn up. The photo I used came from the IWM website. Regards Danny |
