Default A wartime romance.

The message on the back of this evocative photograph reads: 'My darling and I, our wedding year 1942. 6th July, Margate, Kent. A letter hand has written. Grace and Charlie Sanders.

A little basic research reveals that Grace Alexandra Jewells, born in Islington in 1910, married Charles Frederick Sanders, born in Bethnal Green in 1900, were married in Thanet, Kent in 1942.

It would appear that Charlie served in the Civil Defence whilst Grace served in the ATS.

Both Grace and Charlie have now passed on.
