Default 10th Light Horse.

Hello gent's, i wish to pick your brains re XLH badges. I have seen the swan in silver and black but i have a gold one.Is this a bad un?.It has the gold, bronze swan attached with two pins right through the body and it has some weight.it measures 45mm long by 40 wide. Regards Phil.

Could it be that the paint has come off the swan?

As far as I know, they never wore a version with a gold swan.

Hi Phil
It might be the scanner but your badge looks a bit odd.
The lugs look wrong and it has an almost cast look to it.
The badge was never issued in gold so I would say the swan is unfinished or has had the black removed.
I can’t recall ever seeing this badge with a silver swan either? I stand to be corrected

Thank you gents for your observations. It shows no sign of being painted and is a separate piece fixed through the body of the badge. I agree re the cast look .Have these been faked? if not it seems a lot of effort to go to making a two piece.I'm not trying to talk it up just get an answer, have they a version in the regimental shop for visitors etc?. Regarding the white version i saw one in a photograph but it could be paint worn away, i will try and re-find it. Just for interest i received another badge to-day with rather clipped wings and loss of black on the swan.Regards Phil.
