Lieutenant Norman Robinson Royal Flying Corps
Hey
Does anyone know anything about this gentleman? If you look at the pics you'll see why I'm asking looks like his badges and buttons from when he was in the flying corps and then the other buttons are Jennens so they would have been up to 1922 Thing I'm trying to find out other than about Norman is whys that badge going left ? (I've been asked to ask that question) If anyone has any info on Norman do they know if he was in the naval air service too ? (I've been asked to ask that question too ) Thanks you for any info or any ideas T X Not mines just helping to figure this one out and they may end up for sale at some point |

Hi,
I'm not a RNAS collector & I have no extra information on this gentleman but the eagle badge looks like a RNAS cuff rank eagle badge with the extra screw posts seen. These, I believe, were worn in pairs with the eagles facing in different directions? Best regards, David |

Hi Tarabelle
David is not quite correct. The RNAS did have a cuff eagle but they are easy to identify as they generally have the 3 screw posts on the rear but no crown, so the backing plate also doesn't have a shaped section where the crown would go. I assume this was because the RN officers had the 'curl' in their stripes to represent the crown. The eagle you have is one of what should be a facing pair of crowned eagles which were worn above the rank lace of early RAF officers. Cheers, Alex |

Hi,
I found an entry for him on a RFC list online, it just says RFC - normally the list is extensively researched and most people have several lines of information as it often includes the peoples service records, his only having one suggests there may be very little to be gleaned for him. He also doesnt have an entry in the RAF history vault archive, which includes muster lists so again there may be very little info on his air based service |
