Bronze Eagle
Hi folks
Can anyone help with this? Think it is linked to an Irish Regiment, maybe. Royal Irish Rangers, Cheers Sean |

Sean,
That eagle has been discussed many times on the Forum without positive identification, and I think may feature in the MM catalogue? https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ighlight=Eagle Tim

Here is my badge again, different angle showing its deep vaulted form, from that old thread. There appears to be several variations, your bronze example one that I cannot recall seeing before.
The idea was, or is, that they may be an arm badge for Royal Irish Fusiliers NCOs, but I don't know if this is confirmed. Mine and some others show definite age, and while I don't know if Martin Marsh made some or not, at least some of these don't seem to be fakes or restrikes. Still a mystery as far as I am aware. CB

Mine looks modern, I was leaning to Royal Irish Rangers Service Dress pouch badge if there ever was such a thing

The design of yours has what I can only call an Essex like appearance compared to the other styles of eagles CB

Never worn in bronze by the Royal Irish Rangers. Perhaps an unfinished badge, not yet silver plated ?

I dont think it is an unfinished badge. It looks properly bronzed and intended that way. The mystery continues....
