If anyone has copies of Bosleys postal catalogue, there was one on the front cover about 10 years ago.

I am sure it was Pembroke, definately Welsh.

Interesting ..... as that was a source quoted to me by the owner. I have a fair few PY images but none of them contain an image of this arm badge. Granted that being blackened it will be hard to see (on pre 1900 dress). A date would useful... for its use?

Its strange that the PY would convert to the POWFs ....seeing as this is such a unique (and smart) looking badge?

As it was on the front cover (on its own) it was the "best" badge in the auction and went for a tidy sum.

Someone will have the catalogue here, its very distinctive.

Here is an image of the PY pre 1900...... the SNCO at the front certainly appears to have the POWFs above his chevrons?

Griff.

It's the family crest of the Phillips family of Picton Castle, worm earlier than the arm badges your looking at, more Castlemartin Yeo than Pembroke Yeo.

Carmartheshire Yeomanry Cavalry. Picton Castle is in Carmarthenshire. Is a contender for the use of this badge... but maybe not.

** The photos of the Officers uniform (not the sketch) is probably Castlemartin?

Griff.

Bosleys sold one through his postal auction (15th August 2001) which went for £550.

Only note being Pembroke Yeo rare NCO's arm badge. Black rampant lion with applied gilt Crown around it's neck with gilt rope emerging from it. Loops.VGC. (£200-£400).
