PPCLI Embroidered Officer Cap Badge Question

Did anyone see the above mentioned cap badge listed on eBay last week? It was the kings crown pattern badge in gold bullion. The seller reported that it was a WW2 cap badge but I am wondering is maybe it was Korean vintage?

Anyhow, I was outbid! Anyone know of when it would of been worn?

It was of WW2 vintage....there is another thread in here somewhere on embroidered badges,,,My guess is that Doug Noble ended up with it..

I spoke with Lou Grimshaw about this badge. He was of the opinion that it was private purchase. No bullion wire badges were authorized for the PPCLI. That is consistent with the provenance of many other WW2 era embroidered badges.
I have not seen any Korean era images of PPCLI officers wearing bullion wire badges. Worthy of more research to see if the practice of wearing private purchase bullion badges continued into the Korean War. As a footnote, there seems to be little research done on Korean War insignia, with most collectors concentrating on the WW2 era. And, there is more to the insignia than simply using the WW2 pattern insignia.
