Leaving aside originality, most of the badges are completely incorrect for wear in the 1970s.

Agree with Graham. Cloth shoulder titles were worn on Battle Dress which was discontinued for the Regular Army in the early 1960s and the Territorial Army by the early 1970s. Most of the ‘fluffy’ cloth badges seem to have been laundered and tumble dried!

Just to clarify, I have not paid a penny for these, the whole group was send to me on consignment, so not out of pocket.

I will see what more information surfaces and share at a later date but for now at least it seems this 'story' is no more that that.

Regarding Parachute Regiment cap badges, at least from 1980,s those serving members I knew bought there own badges, Silver (hallmarked? Don't know?) obvious Aluminium Anodised as issued was used and worn but not liked, so Silver badges were not only worn by Officer's but also the rabble! Those lads I knew where really proud of these badges, god forbid anyone nicking the Beret!

Wasn't just Para Reg. We were the same in the Royal Marines. I still have my circa 1950s (?) solid brass QC beret badge, bought rather than issued and worn for best.

I've heard some odd stuff from him of late and I'm still waiting for an answer to my question. I'm not putting too much time into it but I'm keen to hear what he say's. Although I'm still planing to share some more details but I'm giving this chap enough space to make sure I have all the information before going off 'half cocked'.
