unknown double headed eagle helmet plate
I have not been able to identify this helmet plate.
It is 13 cm across the wing tips and it has a 1 cm deep curvature. My guess it was made between 1800 and 1900. It is not very high quality, but I think it is genuine. It know it is a long shot, but does anyone recognise it? |

Hi GTB,
I agree with you that it looks very Russian. However, all Russian helmet plates I found have the proper escutcheon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_Russia. This escutcheon has in silver a royal crown. The heads of the eagle are not crowned. best regards, |
