Default Please Help - My Uncle's Badges

This is my second request. I am attempting to identify the regiments or units my relatives served in during WW2. Attached is my Uncle John. I suspect he is a Royal Engineer, but what are the devices on his collar, and what do they mean? Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Regards,
TomG.

Royal Engineers.

He is wearing the RE collar badges (flaming grenade with the Royal Engineers' motto 'UBIQUE' on a scroll)

The collar badge I posted may differ slightly from the exact examples worn by Sapper Grieves, but you get the idea.

Disclaimer: As just pointed out to me by a forum pal, the collar badge I have posted may be to the Royal Artillery. I honestly cannot tell the difference though, so apologies.

You're welcome. Hope it's what you were looking for.

Hopefully one of the forum's RE aficionados will be able to clarify for sure whether or not the collar badge is correct. To the best of my knowledge though, the one I have posted is right (albeit possibly officers'). I think the ten-flame badge was introduced by the RE sometime in the 1920s.

Default A challenge

JT

Attached are two photos of my Brother Arthur. He certainly doesn't have much of a military bearing, but I am unable to even guess at his very fuzzy regimental badge.

Could you or others make a educated guess?

Regards,
Tom.

Tom,

I am assuming these photos are pretty small to begin with, but is there perhaps any chance you might be able to scan the badge sections of the pictures only, and at a high resolution?

Simply enlarging the images just blurs them further for me. A higher resolution scan of just the headdresses/badges would make all the difference, if possible.

With thanks,

JT

JT,

Sadly, the images are very small and are the only images I have. They are of very poor quality, I looked at enlarging the badges, but its just a total blurr. I only have these pictures as digital images not hard copy, so a high resolution scan is not possible.

Thanks for trying and the feedback.

Regards,
Tom

I would go with the Royal Pioneer Corps for the second image.
Regards Tony.

I would think it is Royal Pioneer Corps or Royal Signals.
