Hello everyone.
I'm trying to recreate my late fathers uniform, Lance Corporal Walter Chappell RASC, from his time in the army from '44-'46. I still have his occupation force badge and union badge to add to a reproduction uniform but I'm not sure of the correct positioning. Can anyone help. |

From "Heraldry in War" Lt Col Howard Cole, Third Edition, May 1950. The HQ BCOF sign (crown on dark blue square, with title scroll reading BRITISH COMMONWEALTH FORCES) was "worn on the right sleeve by all troops of Brindiv (ie British Indian Division) with the Divisional badge (the Union flag 1.5 x 2.5 inches) worn on the left sleeve, above the Brigade badges". That is if Brigade badges - ie 5 British Inf Bde, 268 Indian Inf Bde - were worn. Is it possible to post an image of the signs referred to? Mike
