An unknown from member Snowdrop 68

Is it Royal Navy Warrant Officer 2 ? An OR8 equivalent rank but discontinued in 2013?

Default Royal Navy Rank Slide WO2?

Hi Tim,

Yes, this is a rate (only commissioned officers in the Navy have a rank) slide for a Warrant Officer Grade 2 in the Royal Navy.

On 1st April 2004 the substantive rate of Warrant Officer Grade 2 was introduced for RN Artificers and technicians to replace the existing non-substantive rate of Charge Chief Petty Officer (CCPO). In June 2013 it was announced that the rate of Warrant Officer Grade 2 in the Royal Navy was to be phased out from December 2013, with no new promotions, although ratings holding the rate of WO2 will retain the rate until they are either promoted or leave the service.

Pete,
Many thanks, interesting that like the current WO2 slide for the Royal Marines the crown in wreath is placed at the centre of the slide. Army slides have the crown in wreath at the bottom.
