Unidentified Insignia
Two images of an important parade in Hong Kong, date not known but probably late 1940s. Who are the guard in OG/KD, white webbing and berets - green or navy blue? The Sgt on the left is well badged, but I cannot make out what the title and formation sign are. The officer - out of shot - is wearing an SD cap. Could they be RAF? The images came from an historic archive in Hong Kong.

It looks like a RAF shoulder eagle at the top of his sleeve, making him a Flight Sergeant. So possibly they are RAF Regiment. The SD had in the lower part of the pic doesn't look RAF because it has a shiny peak.

Many post WWII RAF caps have shiny peaks, from what I have seen, not sure when exactly the change takes place but that might help date the pic.

Is that hat in the foreground not Hong Kong Police rather than RAF?

Jerry the reason I said about the shiny peak was because the original poster said the "Officer" in the foreground. Officers peaks have always been cloth since circa 1920. Other Ranks peak is shiny!

Berets look very dark for RAF. I know the RAF Police have a thing for white hats and II Sqn for Maroon but has the RAF ever worn any other colours?

The individual at the forefront of this image (top of head showing in peaked cap) is absolutely definitely a member of the Hong Kong Police rather than a member of HM Forces.
