Unknown cap badge
Looks like a variant of a Grenadier Guards Grenade Fired Proper with 17 flame points.
Not sure if it is Canadian pre 1914 or British Indian.... any help would be appreciated. Reverse has no maker mark Lugs run north to south (may be a post period alteration) One piece construction (69 is part of ball) |

The style of the numbers is as per the 79th Overseas Field Bty badge (CEF) and only worn in Canada on the Winter fur cap. Could it be one made for 69th Bty.? You probably know the only similar style is the collar dog to 63rd Bty. So if it’s Canadian, you have certainly got a nice mystery there! Best regards, D.J. PS. Until you find out, you’d better keep it under lock & key! If indeed it is to the 69th Overseas Bty., name your price or keep it in a Safety deposit box!

hi
is there any chance of seeing the reverse? from the front it does look like the 69 is attached in some way, but then you say its all one piece construction? bc |

The style of the numbers doesn't seem quite right to me for the 69th CEF - see below. OTOH, that unit was perpetuated by the Les Fusiliers Mont-Royal, whose badge does incorporate a grenade [with 13 points to the flame]. 69th cap badge worth [or at least being sold at] $75 Cdn.

Here are a few more photos. It appears the numerals are actually attached by the front so it is a 2 piece construction. No makers mark and the reverse has it’s original pin and clasp similar in nature to the 66th regiment.

Added more photos and i think you are right about the numerals being attachments.

Could the 69 have been added at a later date ? Was this a slide red badge ? Other than that I have no idea ?
