Default Deakin University Company hat and collar badges - mid 1990s

Deakin University Company hat and collar badges - mid 1990s

A very scarce set - also comes with a DEAKIN metal title.

They were only worn for about a month (1 or 2 parades) until it was realised that they weren't supposed to have their own hat badge as they came under Melbourne University Regiment (or Monash Uni - can't remember which one) and were supposed to wear the parent unit's badge.

This is the Deakin University Regiment badge that was only worn for one parade - I was told that only 40 - 70 or there abouts were made.

I was told this about from a SGT who was a member of the unit at the time.

"The badge was created by the members of the unit in early 80's. It was designed after Alfred Deakin Family Crest. The original had Deakin University Regiment on it. The mint was authorised to be made and only 40 or 70 (not sure) were minted. Members bought the badge at the time and we only wore it once. Some general saw us and we told we weren't allowed to wear it. It was never worn again as far as I am aware. The company badge that the unit wore stemmed from the original badge."

I suspect it was early 1990s however.

Another very rare badge.
