RCAF Sweetheart Bracelet - Maker Question
Greetings All...
I am back to cleaning again, discovering all sorts of things I had forgotten I had and one of the things I came across today was a sweetheart bracelet. I know it is WW2 vintage but I am curious about the Maker's Mark on it. It appears to me to be <cMc> with a broad arrow C, though I am not really certain about that. Maybe wishful thinking more than anything. So, who or what do you think this is? The bracelet by the way is 28 by 10 mm in size. cheers, phil

They had several uses including I.D. bracelet and sweetheart. I did not see a name engraved so I assume unissued. Some of these are very elaborate. Most in Sterling but I have seen many in gold. I don't recognize the maker mark. A nice item. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks very much. This is, I should think, too small for an ID bracelet. Barely fits my bride's wrist. Interesting to see what others think.
cheers, phil

ID Bracelets
The ID Bracelets which were popular with the three services during the Second World War were a private purchase item and not a government supplied piece of clothing, therefore there would be no reason to mark them with a 'C Broad Arrow'.
The bracelets and the miniature insignia were manufactured by commercial firms who supplied them to jewelry and deparment stores for sale to the military and their families. There were several styles of bracelet, chains and attachment features to choose from. |

Thanks Ed.
My curiosity is just to the Manufacturer. I knew it was wishful thinking to pretend to see the broad arrow C. I have my F-i-L's and it is more the larger oval that was quite common. I just thought that someone would look at the image of the mark and say, "Oh, that's Charles Martin Company from Cranbrook" or something similar. Shot in the dark, I know, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then. cheers. phil
