Default 27th Independent Infantry Brigade

Dear all,

For the last two decades, I've been looking for a photo that shown members of the 1st Battalion of Argyll & Sutherland who have the formation sign of 27th Independent Infantry Brigade on his sleeve.

I have visited most of the Regiment home page that related to Korean War,it seem I do not have the luck to locate one. Maybe this formation sign was in use in a very short period by the above mentioned army personnel (later was replaced by the formation sign of 40th Infantry Division).

Appreciate if any of our members have any suggestions; advises, please contact with me.

Happy collecting !

With warmest regards,

Bruno

The caption to the attached photographs mentions officers of the A and SH wearing the formation sign of the 40th Div. "on their arrival in Korea"

I have never seen an image of the sign of 27 Indep Inf Bde being worn by 1 A&SH, but this in my possession would indicate that it was actually worn. I'm still trying to work out where and when. In my opinion more likely to have been worn in Hong Kong post-Korea. Mike

Good luck in your search - there were myriad variations since the sign was made in UK - at least three variants (EonF, Ptd and SkE) and also many more - mostly hand embroidered on felt - locally made in ROK and in Japan. Mike

Hi guys
I think I have 3 variations. I have the full hand embroidered made in japan, the screen printed and a type of felt with embroidered 9s
Not at home for a week but will try and put some pics up.
I collect them as some Aussies would have worn them.
Here's a thread I started. It shows 2 types and the super rare shoulder title. The colour patches are also rare as these were also hand embroidered in japan.
