Any idea of what this badge is and if its British or Australian ??

This is a great thread, and Wooffy, the link is excellent and has helped me better ID some of the BRCS/SJ/VAD items I have!!!

just read the piece and yes sounds like it could be the badge

"The hat badge will be the joint badge
of the H.R.C.S. and the .Order of St.
John of Jerusalem in the past this
badge has been worn only by the
staff at Devonshire House and
by Princess Mary's detachment; -but the
privilege of using it has now been ex
tended to the three Dominions'. detachments—Canadian, South African, and
