Default WW2 Home Guard Auxiliary Units Badge

I heard these units were numbered 201, 202 and 203. With that said, I have only seen examples of the pictured badge. Does anyone own badges from units 201 or 203? Were any of these badges maker marked? Just how rare are they? Any information other then what is available on the Internet would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,

There is only the one type of Auxiliary Units lapel badge.

Each number is represented on the badge.

The lapel badge is not maker marked.

The badges are rare, but not as rare as the HOme Guard cloth printed numbers 201, 202, 203.

Value £175.00 - £250.00 depending on who you are buying from...

The occasionally turn up wrongly described on eBay. That's where I bought mine from.

Default Home Guard Auxilliary Units

As I understand it 203 was for units South of the river Thames, 202 was for units North of the river Thames and 201 was for Scotland.

Maybe Home Front collectors can add further information.

Hello

According to the excellent book on the LDV and Home Guard, "In The Space Of a Single Day" by Jon Mills and Terry Carney, there is only the one badge (as mentioned above) and it was a post-war issue lapel badge, "in effect an old comrades badge, rather than one worn in war time as an identity mark".

Regards
Roger

Suffolk was 202. Hardly Northern England but I suppose it depends where you live!

hi, These books are good, they cover the Norfolk area. Both are called standing up to hitler by Adrian hoare pub 1997 and 2002.

The badges are based on the shield badge, and are currently for sale.

Last book is also very good.

Paul,

Keep looking. One sold on eBay recently for less than my top estimate.
