Soviet Submarine
Hi All
Got this badge in with some others, is it something similar to the Royal Navy Dolphins submariners badge? It is plated and some of the plating, I guess silver, has worn off in the high spots. Cheers Jim |

yes, that is Soviet Submarine Commader badge (1943 - 1987). Depicts Shchuka class submarine with a star. Established in 1942, first badges had a star with a hammer and sickle on it. Ship commanders were rewarded with the entry into a permanent command of the ship on the basis of orders of the commanders of fleets and flotillas. The sign was handed only once in a solemn ceremony at the first entry in the command of the ship. Current Russian badge has no star and is called "Ship commander's badge".. sorry for my English
