Default SAS Wing and Beret Badge

From a small accumulation recently found. The wing appears to conform to a Malayan period example, the Beret badge I am unsure but likely a later time frame. The last piece is a total unknown and unsure if it has an SAS connection, but was in the group. Thoughts and opinions always welcomed. Best Jack

The wing is Malayan period as you have correctly stated. It is a nice example.

The beret badge is a 1944 late war pattern which could have been wartime worn but more likely to be have been worn in the 1950's and beyond.

The SAS patch is one that I am not familiar with, but others here may know about it and wish to comment.

Cheers,
Jack

Thanks Jerry, the last piece has me stumped. Have not found it in anything that I have looked in. Hopefully someone will recognize it.

Perhaps St Andrew's or Scottish Ambulance Service?

I wondered the same, as it seems very non SAS in style design and color.

Thanks for the replies

I had posted this badge on another thread recently. this badge was from the same group as above cloth items. Was curious if this could have been worn by 21 SAS for the short period of time that they wore an Artists badge on the beret, post WW2/ Malaya era? Or is this badge from and earlier time frame? It is of a cap size and much larger than the collars. thanks again.

The rectangular SAS patch looks like a school blazer badge. I'm a school archivist and it's a pattern common to many schools.

Hello

Another possible candidate for the 'SAS' patch is Scandinavian Airline Services. Their current 'SAS' logo is much more modern in appearance but this could be an older design. Their 'SAS' lettered buttons often appear on ebay as 'Special Air Service'!

I think it is feasible that this type of badge and perhaps a hallmarked example was worn by 21 SAS officers in the early 1950's.

I have seen an early fifties photograph of 21 SAS officers that appears to show them wearing a metal badge, but as I don't have access to the original which could be examined more closely under a magnifying glass I cannot be certain.

Jack.

That is the one that I was trying to remember, though not 100% on this. I know it was asked about previously, either here on on another forum.

This badge was worn on No 1 dress hats with Blues. I have seen contemporary paintings from the 1950s with 21 SAS in such dress. Being TA they like to dress up.
