Default Hong Kong Customs and Excise

Good afternoon

Here is a pair of Hong Kong Customs and Excise cap badges:
(L) c.1980s-1997 (British era);
(R) post-1997 (Chinese administration).

Do any of our Hong Kong or button experts know what uniform buttons were worn pre-1997?

Images of the current uniforms online - although not terribly clear - appear to show that the current buttons bear the crossed sword and key as per the cap badge. https://www.customs.gov.hk/filemanag...orm/wwm2_l.jpg

Any help will, as always, be greatly appreciated.

All the best

Graham

The HK Customs and Excise Department, at www.customs.gov.hk have a museum and a comprehensive written history going back to their days as the Preventive Service. Try them.

Thank you, that gives me a bit more of the historical background (not sure how I missed it, so doubly appreciated).

Thanks again

Graham
