Default How rare is this shoulder title?

This shoulder title belonged to my wife's grandfather, I have all of his other various cap badges and shoulder titles as well as his Medals from the First and Second World Wars but I have been unable to locate a mate for this one.

How rare is it and any ideas as to where I could find a mate for it?

Thanks

Default Very scarce

It's a No 1 MP Detachment shoulder title and it is very scarce. They show up from time to time on EBay and may go for upwards of $150.00. For interest's sake what unit are his Great War medals named to?

John

Not being from a military background I am at a little bit of a disadvantage but here goes. He fought for Canada in WW 1 and was injured in France. He has the 1914 - 1915 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. All medals are marked 8th Canadian Infantry. I do not know the sequence as to which groups he was attached to but his son, my wife's father, kept all his dad's shoulder, caps and collars. My father in law was in the WW 2 and was with the 17 RCA and I have all his medals, etc, etc as well as my fathers who was in the Candian Navy. Here is a list of my wife's Grandfathers items. PPCLI, South Saskatchewan Regiment, 32nd Infantry Batallion, 8th Infantry Batallion, General Service Caps, Collars and Shoulders with C over 8, 1 MP, Winnipeg Grenadiers, Canadian Machine Gun Corp, 2nd Armoured Car. He maintained contact with the services between WW1 and WW2 I think in a reserve capacity so maybe hence all the different groups. He recieved the King George VI Coronation Medal in 1937 and got the Canadian Efficiency Medal. When WW 2 started he signed up for active duty and received the CVSM and the 1939 to 1945 War Medal. He did not see active service and just before WW 2 broke out he was appointed RSM and was with the 2nd Armoured Car at that point.

With the 1 MP there were two other shoulder titles, just Canada which are the same size Canada as the shoulder on this post. Would they have been worn/issued with the 1 MP?

Jack

Yes, I have the Warrant that was issued by the Minister of National Defence making him the RSM on the 20th May 1938 and then at the bottom left hand corner it shows To RSM John Jenkins Warrant Officer Class I, 2nd Armoured Car Regiment.
