How to clean a mother of pearl sweetheart

Hi All,

I picked up this sweetheart a couple of days ago which has some sort of stain at the bottom which I want to clean off.

I'm thinking warm soapy water and a baby's toothbrush, does that sound safe on mother of pearl or is there something else I should try?
