J T,
I don't know, but it is interesting that they are all on the UK mainland.

Not all Irish regiments that wear the caubeen are from the UK. 2Bn The Irish Regiment of Canada wear the caubeen and are proud to do so.

The poor Standard bearer appears to have had an accident eyes slightly popping out mouth forming an Oh!! and just how hard did he place the end of the Standard into its holder?

The Memorial Guards do look the part! Thanks for sharing the photos both are great and only having a playfull dig at the poor Standard holder!

Hi JT,
Not wishing to hijack your thread mate but if you think the Caubeen is awful what do you think of the Stocking Cap as worn here by some Queen's Westminster Rifle Volunteers? Wonder if Noddy would approve!!! Haven't seen one of these at auction, maybe someone could knit me one

Now there's a thing! Got a Phrygian/Liberty Cap look about it. Presumably not 'rouge' though?

At least these poor so-and-sos can get through the door without having to take them off!

Nice post.

I believe the RASC wore the caubeen too, although exactly how, in regard to badge siding, I don't know.

OUCH!

Well spotted, Billy! Our standard-bearer mate looks as though he's copped himself a proper unfortunate one in the Canadian Rockies
