Badges with the 22 numeral imposed were worn by the Bn, but not with the white metal overlay. The wartime badges with 22 were darkened bronze finish, brown enamel finish or pickled finish. The white metal overlay type was not adopted until the R 22e R became a regiment of the permanent forces of Canada shortly after the war.

I did see a cap badge with the silver overlay maker marked Hemsley. Would that be immediately after WW1? Any idea when Hemsley stopped making badges? I have only ever seen CEF badges by Hemsley.

Hemsley were in business for sometime after the First WW. I have correspondence from an old time collector requesting badges from them in the 1920's.

Hello Michel, I'm going to speak French for Michel, a frog eater like me.

here are several models of the "Vandoss" I am fortunate to have the 1st model without N° 22. The badge and the N° of the 2nd model were in brass and blackened as Bill A says.

Here are photos of WWI without number (it comes from the surroundings of cherisy) and WWII with white number. It did not fail either during the 2nd war.

Bonne soirée et bonne fin d'année.
