Default Shoulder Eagles

This pair of Shoulder Eagles has recently appeared on ebay. Whilst the embroidery of the eagle appears correct the background is another matter. The only use for these Eagles is on the No 1 Dress jacket and the normal background has been of the same material. The background to these is very dark blue and is similar to the General Purpose Jacket material.

Do you know what they are used for??

Drop Zone sell them on eBay as "current issue" and with NSN numbered packaging.

Packaging dated 1995, NSN: 8455-99-869-0537.

These are NOT the normal background Eagles. A comparison pic is attached. These are being sold by "Bombdisp".

Might they be for raincoats or zippered jackets of some kind?

Toby - Raincoats are no longer worn and when they were they did not have eagles on the sleeve. The zippered jacket is called the GP jacket and while the colours are similar I have not seen any with eagles. Eagles are only worn on the No 1 Jacket and the greatcoat.

Steve - I know they are modern (current pattern eagle) but the background is the question. The attached pics show the current jackets. The GP Jacket and the waterproof Jacket can be worn by both Officers and ORs so there is no eagle as Officers have never worn them. So the badge remains a mystery.
