Crown over chevrons rank badge?
Can anyone tell me if this is authentic? It is reported as being found on a Korean War period battle dress tunic.
Thanks. |

This is referred to as a 'Kings Corporal'. You can google it for more info. It was awarded for special services. Hope this helps.Cheers Al

Al, thank you very much. I have now also seen a suggestion that this was an interim representation of the Master Corporal rank in the brief period between Unification and the issue of new uniforms and rank badges. I do not, however, have a published reference for that.

You can disregard the interim MCpls badge.
You will notice that the crown is (St) Edward; ie WW1/WW2. There is on google also a ref to a 'Queens Corporal' although I have never seen one. Last edited by soldier1; 17-11-10 at 09:31 PM. Reason: Precision |

Hi soldier1, The crown in question is not the St. Edwards crown, commonly known as the queen's crown. It is Tudor crown, also commonly called the king's crown.
