Irish Fusiliers of Canada
The Irish Fusiliers of Canada had a coronet added to their badges after the initial pattern was determined to be incorrect. Phil, can you add the correct details for this badge?

Note the wire reinforcement for attaching the coronet.

What date would the coronet have been added?

I think Phil H has that information. The badge was approved by GO in 1937, but it was sometime coming into wear.

Phil, There is no indication of the date at which the coronet was added?

That, I don't know.
I think it was probably as soon as they could, given that the regiment wished to follow the traditions of The Royal Irish Fusiliers. Phil

Mine came with a felt four leaf clover, was the proper backing for wear on the beret or side cap?

I don't think that is correct. It may have been an unauthorized backing. Could you post an image Mike?

The cadet corps wore a shamrock, not a four leaf clover, as a backing on the CF green beret with the 1958 pattern capbadge. I have seen green backings cut to outline the wartime badge .

Phil, Any ideanwhen was that dress distinction worn? Was there an authority?
And, I thought the reserve army Irish Fusiliers wore a hackle behind their badge. (in contrast to the cadet practice.)

Bill...if I can help...I have a good laser photocopy of a Vancouver newspaper clipping showing a Canloan officer, CDN 532,Capt.Chambers wearing a Caubeen with the badge,(grenade and coronet), of the Irish Fusiliers with I suppose a "large" green hackle ( larger than a Black Watch hackle...straighter and higher.) The Caubeen is pulled to the right. He is also wearing the title Irish Fusiliers /(V.R.).......Capt.Chambers was to serve with the Imperial Irish Fusiliers in Italy. Jo
