Default 1853 Pattern Cavalry Sword

Good Day All

I am doing some research for my local Royal Can. Legion Branch. We recently received some memorabilia from the family of a deceased veteran. Besides serving in WW2 (RCAF) he joined the Halifax rifles (Sgt,) the then the IV Princess Louise Dragoon Guards here in Ottawa (retd. Maj.). One Item we received is a 1853 pattern Cavalry Troopers Sword, on the pommel is a V over PEI over 43. I have tried to associate it with the PEI Light Horse here in Canada but their lineage does not seem to go pre 1901. Have also tried U.K. Cav. units with no luck. Any help identifying the inscription would be appreciated. I have also posted this in the Canadian area.

Thanks in advance
