Request for more info please again!
Hi all, I recently posted a request but I'm having trouble again, translation this time so language students get a crack. I have a shoulder title that I am assuming is post 1947 (partition) but although I can read and translate cyrillic unfortunately indian, arabic (and any other squiggly writing) defeats me. Please advise if you can.
I also have in the same lot a title for S.T. Corps but struggling to find any info. |

The script is Devanagari, used in northern India and Nepal for several languages, the most important one being Hindi.
The second word is रक्षक transcribed "rakshak", which has translation like "protector", "guard", but most probably here means "armed force" or "army". Hope other may know better.

I think the second title may be 'Supply and Transport Corps'

Found it. The above interpretation of the first word is wrong. It is शाही, which transcribes as "shāhī", which can be translated as "royal" (think about the title of "shah").
Thus the translation is "Royal Army" or "Royal Guard". No idea who wore that

The way the S.T.Corps badge is made makes me think of a pugaree/pugri/pagri flash rather than a shoulder title.

The S.T.CORPS patch was worn on the epaulettes by the Indian Army Supply and Transport Corps before it became the Indian Army Service Corps in 1923. They were also made as slip-on titles as well.

And did it help? We are of course very interested if the bits we added resulted in some definite id.

You are welcome. I assume you do not yet know which Royal Guard it belongs to.
