This unidentified badge has recently been donated to the Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry Museum. It may be from somewhere in the Balkan area - possibly Albania or thereabouts? The crown is suggestive of one of the Eastern Orthodox countries.

Oak leaves down one side and possibly laurel down the other, which is a bit Germanic. The eagle has only one head, so not Albanian... The crown looks Central European - or is it Scandinavian?

Hello All.
My first post on the forum. The African badge is the badge of the "South African Scottish" Gilded metal also in white metal 1915-1919 this badge was worn with a backing of Athol Murray tartan. This regiment was a part of the Scottish 9th Div and took part in the action at Delville Wood in 1916.

Cheers RobbieDubh

Smile Unidentified badge donated to Ox & Bucks Museum

I had one of these some years ago and I think it is Italian air force of the fascist period, WWII.

Hello BWEF,
Owen attributes EENDRACHT MAAKT MACHT to a period ranging from 1916-1926
and EENDRAG MAAK MAG to 1927-1950
Cheers,
Dave.

Here is a Norfolk badge which, I assume, is an officer's version. The other two are, as far as I am concerned, unknown items.

The middle one is "The Kensingtons" Princess Louise's Kensington Regiment and the last one is the good old East Surrey Regiment.

Stanley,

What makes you think the Norfolk is an officers badge? If its lugged making you believe its an officers it would actully be an OR's example making it pre 1911. The second badge is the 13th County of London (Kensington Battalion) and the last badge appears to be a East Surrey collar dog.

Cheers,

Luke

The Surreys is a slidered cap badge with the scroll broken off.

The Norfolks is the ORs pre 1936 version.

You are of course right Alan, I'm sometimes too quick to type methinks

Looking again at the Norfolk I think I can see a slider so again Alan is correct... at least I got the kensington spot on

Thanks for that Dave. I missed it when you first posted it.

Thank you, everbody, for the information. The Norfolk badge has a slider, and there is no indication of the Surrey badge being damaged.

I thought that the Norfolk badge was an officer's badge because it is more ornate than my other Norfolk Regment badge - which may of course be a collar badge. I had never even heard of the Kensington unit!

The ROYAL Norfolk badge is simpler with britannia in all brass and no wreath and scroll. If it is slidered then it is this badge. Collars were the same but with lugs.

This wheel badge turned up in the Oxfordshire Yeomanry Trust store. It has two lugs on the back, and appears to be a waggoners badge - possible native? Or a trade badge?

Smile Wheel badge

This is a wheelwrights arm badge, worn by all horsed units, which would include the Oxfordshire Yeomanry.
